My review of Bring your Book to life by JL FORD

KEE’S THOUGHTS:

BRING YOUR BOOK TO LIFE by J.L. Ford

Writing has always been a hobby of mine, and I believe that everyone has a story to share.  Everyone has something unique in their life that can help others.  I’ve never contemplated writing as a full time career. However, my family and friends tell me daily that I should write a book. I began to research self-publishing vs. publishing companies. I ended up joining twitter and one of my first followers was AUTHOR JL FORD.

It made me curious as who this author was, and how he started etc. I logged onto his website, familiarized myself his work and began to follow him as well.  Author Ford tweets are inspiring about relationship and life topics.  With so much negative energy in the world, it’s always a JOY to find someone spreading positive energy into the universe.

I noticed his book titled “Bring your book to life “listed on his website, and the thought of being an author in the back of my mind. I immediately purchased the book. PAUSE. I have purchased two other books about publishing. One was informative because it showed the authors journey to being published. The other was a book that seems like someone googled the information and called it a book.  I say all that to say, I didn’t know what to expect out of JL FORD’S book.  However here are my thoughts.

Bring your book to life by J.L. FORD is a very informative book for aspiring authors. It’s not your normal do this and do that book.  He takes you step by step on the pros and cons of self-publishing. Although he has self-published several books, he doesn’t point his finger and say YOU should self-publish. J.L Ford gives a well rounded view of publishing. He shares the mistakes that he made along the way.   The ups, downs, upfront money and the benefits of self-publishing.  Bring your book to life introduces new forms of publishing such as P.O.D ,confused? It stands for print on demand.  You have to purchase bring your book to life for full details.

Bring your book to life, advises on the good, bad and ugly of social networking and royalties associated with your book. Author Ford also explains how your book, opens the door for new endeavors like speaking engagements etc. Do you know how to get there?  Would you do a book signing on a large scale or modest scale? How much should you sale your book for? Are you willing to put in the work to bring your book to life? Are you trying to make money or doing something you have a passion for? If, these are questions you ask yourself or would like to be advised on.

I recommend BRING YOUR BOOK TO LIFE by JL FORD.

My review of REALLIONAIRE by DR. Farrah Gray

Reallionaire  A  9-Step guide to success  written by Dr. Farrah Gray .

This book isn’t your normal “GUIDE” to success. It’s more of a journey of life experiences of a young man filled with ambition and motivation for a better life.  Where did they get a name like REALLIONAIRE?  Hmm, read the book for complete understanding. However, I will give my brief summary of a wonderful journey.

Dr. Farrah Gray wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth. It is important for me to make that clear from the start. Farrah, was raised in the “HOOD” of Chicago, by a single parent along with his three older siblings.  Sounds ,real ? Because this is the story of many.   Farrah’s family always thought there was something unique about the youngest child and thus he was named the “GOLDEN CHILD”.

Reallionaire is a feel good story, from beginning to end and it leaves no stone unturned.  The fact that Farrah began asking business questions at 5 years old. He began using his “HOOD” skills early.  How?  his first briefcase was his RED lunchbox.  Don’t tell me what the hood can’t teach you.  His mother worked as a consultant (1 job of many), he was able to watch her, and businessmen she represented. Throughout his journey he is a witness to eviction, making meals out of nothing, food stamps, the value of asking a question, and listening to the answer.  Dressing for success because perception is everything. Also, being confident from the inside out and remaining humble.

Reallionaire, is well written sharing quotes from his mother, siblings, businessman and mentors. The book shows success is achievable no matter where you come from.  I appreciate the fact it covers how to handle rejection as well. Let’s face it, Jordan didn’t make every shot and Uncle Rush didn’t succeed at every venture.  Farrah, makes sure to tell you not to be afraid of REJECTION, because there will be stumbling blocks along the way. What would happen if you never failed?  My motto is there isn’t a TESTIMONY without a TEST; many stumbling blocks are placed there by GOD.  Reallionaire offers worksheets for self-reflection throughout the book.  There are  pictures towards the final chapter of the book and my favorite is Farrah and the RED briefcase (lunchbox) the picture speaks volumes.

The main thing that impressed me is the message of HUMBLENESS and FAMILY throughout the book. We’re talking about a young man who had an office on WALL STREET, owned TWO businesses and became a MILLIONAIRE before he could get his drivers license.  Reallionaire , will leave you with the question.  Am I making good use of my talent (s)?  I recommend this book to EVERYONE.

Family, love, firm foundation, humility, ambition, motivation, and confidence all found in the book – REALLIONAIRE and those are my thoughts.
